Boyd County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 2,438. Its county seat is Butte. Boyd County was the setting of Susan Cragin's 2007 documentary film and book, "Nuclear Nebraska", in which she chronicled the story of how local residents refused to allow a nuclear waste site in Boyd County. In the Nebraska license plate system, Boyd County is represented by the prefix 63 (it had the sixty-third-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922).
